The Greater Blanchardstown Development Project
situated at Parslickstown House (under Management Licence from Fingal
County Council) is a resource centre, which provides facilities,
information, training and support to groups and individuals with
the overall aim of being a catalyst for community development in
the Mulhuddart area and with a development brief in the Huntstown
and Hartstown areas.
B.A.S.E (Blanchardstown Area Small Enterprise) situated
in the grounds of Parslickstown House is a unique development in
the Dublin 15 area. It provides 14 incubator units for people who
wish to develop their new businesses in a sheltered environment.
Together, we are the sponsors of the Community Employment
Project at Parslickstown House, with the invaluable assistance of
Irene Skerry, Community Employment Project Supervisor.
SPONSOR COMMITTEE
We recognise the right of every individual to have access to
work, and we accept responsibility to provide the supports necessary under
our sponsorship of the Community Employment Project to empower local people
to access employment. While they are in our employment, we will support all
efforts to provide development opportunities, thereby enabling the individual
to make informed life choices and brekaing the cycle of long-term unemployment.

The objective of the sponsor committee is to provide relevant
work experience/training to participants with a view to acquisition of new
skills which hopefully will enable them to re-enter fulltime employment.
Training
Participants on the Community Employment project are actively encouraged to participate in training, which will provide them with new skills. In consultation and discussion with the Community Employment Project Supervisor, Irene Skerry participants can assess their own training needs and access training appropriate to their needs. In the past, participants have undergone external training in:

Typewriting
Computer Training
Basic First Aid
Basic Health & Safety
Fire Safety Skills
Fork Lift Driving
Motor Vehicle Driving
Confidence building skills
Childcare Training
Catering
Horticulture
Where possible, all training is accredited and certified.
Participants can also avail of one day on site information workshops on Welfare Rights Information, Color Me Beautiful and any other topics as requested by the participants in consultation with the Supervisor.
